Time to rejoice!
It seems the number of millionaires has sky-rocketed over the last year to over ten million of the critters. Six hundred thousand new millionaires joined the ranks of this exclusive club. If ten million doesn't seem very exclusive consider that this number represents one fifth of one percent of the world population.
The amount of wealth they control...? Over forty trillion dollars. Sure you say. Forty trillion...? That's barely enough to fight forty Iraq Wars. A pittance. Well its certainly not a pittance but it is a pity. In the time its taken to write these words hundreds if not thousands have died in this world due to war, pestilence and hunger. Forty trillion dollars could, most probably, eradicate these scourges.
The fact that these fortunes were amassed from the labour of the workers of the world and is allowed to be horded by this gaggle of greed-ridden parasites cries for rectification.
Children are hungry. Mothers cradle their sick babies and sob in desparation and despair. Cluster bombs rain down on civilian populations in the name of freedom.
Why end war. Its good business and great for the bottom line. Why end disease. Pharmaceutical companies would go broke. Why end poverty. Hunger is the opiate of the masses and a hungry body is one willing to fight for a cause-mainly your cause. Better a belly full of lead than a belly full of bread.
Forty trillion dollars buys alot of bullets and builds alot of walls. But lets face it . People are poor because they are lazy. People are sick because they live in filth. Wars are waged because its human nature. Its not the rich people's fault and its not their problem. They are rich because they wanted it more than the poor. Let them eat cake!
Wars are waged because the rich want more. Diseases exist because people are forced to live in conditions under which pestilence thrives. People are poor because the rich cannot exist without them.
Its time to cull this herd of horders. Peace and prosperity are attainable goals but not so long as these parasites are allowed to pillage the global village. Its our choice. Thanks for nothing or thanks a million..?

Workin' for the 'little' Man
The 'Powers that Be'.
I can only speak for myself but does any-one else feel the oppressive depression of the constant manipulations that seek to enslave mankind. The manipulators are the nameless, faceless phantasms of World Domination who have plagued the planet since distant history. Once upon a time ( and quite possibly upon this time as well ), they were known as Templars, Illuminati, Priory of Zion etc. Today names such as Bilderberg, Carlyse, Haliburton, Merck and The House of Saud are monikers which illicit shudders of foreboding.
Its almost hard to believe that money could be the motive for the malevolent machinations of these malignant monsters. They seem to have piles of it. Their abundance of wealth is of such grotesque proportions that it can be equated with the over-kill associated with the concept of 'Mutually Assured Destruction'. How much do you need... Alas, Montgomery Burns summed it all up very nicely when he said, " I'd give it all up - For more!".
If power is the motivator then complete world domination is the goal. In light of such organizations and principles as the Codex Alimentarius this seems to be the case.
As Homer Simpson said, " But what can I do...? I'm only one man" The answer is not much. To battle such entities is Quixotic and futile. Just ask Ralph Nader. After a lifetime of fighting corporations he is dismissed as a trouble causing communist who is nothing more than a despoiler of the democratic process. Or how about Michael Moore? Here is a man who has laid the proofs of Corporate Conspiracies at America's feet only to be pilloried as a self promoting buffoon, fighting windmills and pissing against the wind. Noam Chomsky? A terrorist coddling America hater.
No, my friends, there is little the 'little man' can do that will not guarentee his derision, destruction and quite possibly his death. RFK and MLK Jr. were not small men but their fates were the same. And be quite assured that in the cases of RFK, MLK Jr. and JFK that there is no such thing as a 'Lone Gunman'. As Satan said, " I am Legion ". In this regard, America could be said to be suffering Legionaires disease from cradle to grave.
So here we are you and I. We share the fate of Howard the Duck. Trapped in a world we never made. We are fodder, we are chattel we are cattle. You can blame it on Bin Laden if you wish but the perpetrators of these crimes against humanity look more like Richard Perle, James Baker and Dick Cheney than Ahab the Arab. The pestilence is not solely American. The gaggle of gansters out to be your puppet-masters are as multinational as the corporations they build to fulfill their despotic destiny.
We have grown too complacent. There will be no nouveau French Revolution. No new American revolution. No more Upper Canadian Rebellion. Outrage only goes as far as not missing the next American Idol. You may as well hope for Armageddon, Rapture and the new Millenium because 'The Powers That Be ' are winning the day, ruling the world and running your life. You are, indeed, 'Working for the Man' and you are dispensible. Workers of the world UNITE! You should be working for the ' Little Man'.

A very wise man, I believe it was Marshall McLuhan, once said " Art is anything you can get away with...". In the age of life sized chocolate Christs, Reichstags covered in saran wrap, Hanging Meat and ShantyTowns this seems to be an adequate assessment. A tour of the modern art section of Canada's National Gallery can be as demoralizing as it is infuriating as the visitor is bombarded with canvas after canvas of works so simplistic and meaningless that they seem to convey no other message than their creators contempt for the public and a tone of gullibility towards those who would put meaning and value on these half-assed efforts.
Indeed, Ottawa as a capital city, has long been in the habit of littering the town with art pieces that the average citizen would not recognise as art until they were told so. The twisted, rusted heaps of metal resembling abandoned car wrecks that once lined the airport parkway, the giant fiberglass intestine reminiscent of a gargantuan turd which graced Confederation Park or the variously coloured geometric shapes easily mistaken as construction debris fallen from the back of a truck which appeared along the capitals driveways are a few prime examples of this phenomena.
This trend towards trash is by no means new. Picasso himself was a pioneer of pissing on paper and calling it inspired. Pablo must has experienced quite a few moments of giddy disbelief as auction houses battled to bid on his doodles, his scrawls and his misogynist attacks very thinly veiled as art. Andy Warhol was a master of the mass-produced mess-terpiece and Jackson Pollock spewed art out of any and all orifices on his road to being hailed a genius. Today examples of 'drive-by' art abound. Their creators have learned their lessons from these Titans and their works prove that expression outranks expertise. Just Do It. ( The Nike 'Swoosh' being another fine example of minimal effort for maximum return).
As an artist I must be stupid. I think art should be born of effort and a finished work , be it portrait, impressionist or abstract should reflect mastery. The pen is mightier than the sword and the paintbrush is mightier than the pen.
When I was a kid and the summer exhibition came to town there was always the art-stall where you paid a quarter to squirt paint from ketchup bottles onto a small canvas which was then spun at high speeds creating a whirlpool of colour. I better dig those masterpieces out of storage - the National Gallery may be interested...

Greetings Earthlings!
I come in Peace. These words may seem run of the millenium to most and a tired cliche but they should be front and foremost in the hearts and minds of all Terrans.
The world seems to be going to heck in a humvee. Acid rain, ultraviolet radiation, smog, greenhouse gases and politicians have been allowed to run amok, unchecked until it now seems impossible to reverse the damage that has been inflicted upon our gracious Gaia. The Horsemen are upon us as war, famine and pestilence scour humanity. As easy it is to shed crocodile tears for man-unkind we have brought these scouges upon ourselves. 'Love thy neighbor' has given way to' good fences make good neighbors' and those same fences ecourage the NIMBY principle. As the world has technically dwindled to a 'global village', prejudice, bigotry, racism and hate have risen to be the leviathan that guard our greed-locked gates.
There is no arguing that for the common man resistance is futile. Cabals, cliches and corporations conspire to dominate us all. Their heartless manipulations of mankind are of the cruelest design since God and Satan set out to test Job. The Carlyle Group, The Bildenbergers, Big Oil, Big Army, masons, Templars and Toys 'R' Us are our puppetmasters. Choose your poison but make sure it wasn't made in China...it may have lead in it! The common man seems powerless but it is we who have allowed these 'powers that be' to 'be'. We've sold our souls for the price of a plastic bag and willingly let our sons and daughters fill their body bags. Its all been done for God and country and we have appeased lest we be labelled unpatriotic infidels.
Well we now seem to be at a time of convergence. Nostrodamus, Edgar Cayce, Mother Shipton, The Mayan Calendar, The List of St. Malachy, The Biblical prophecies (especially those of Lucia of Fatima) are but a few of the signs of confligration that are bottle-necking toward us. Bush and Bin Laden. Gog and Magog. Say your prayers and make your peace. The only hope seems to be that in the history of civilization there has never been a society that has not believed that their time was the 'End - Time'. Unfortuneatly, just because it hasn't happened is no protection from the fact that it could happen. We are armed to the teeth and we are at each others throats. No society before us has had our capacity to finish the job...
If you look at the evidence it appears that this is not the first time that mankind has teetered on the brink and that if we destroy ourselves that would not be a first either. Ancient texts are filled with advanced technological references and tales of war-fare on Earth, in the skies and between the Gods all laughed off as mythology. There are those who very reasonably and learnedly believe that we were those Gods and that we have now only re-achieved the advancements in Civilization we once enjoyed. Those who don't learn from the lessons of History are doomed to repeat them. So, it seems, we are now where we were then...on the abyss.
Here we sit waiting for ALF, E.T. or Mork from Ork to save us though we hardly seem deserving of such a Cosmic bail-out. If its not too late we should look only to ourselves for salvation. So I say to you all and I hope you feel the same..." I come in Peace".
